Customs Intelligence officials recovered 125 gold bars worth Tk 7 crore and arrested four people, including two women, from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here on Wednesday.
The arrestees were identified as: Anwara Begum, 30, Nahida Farzana Moni, 25, Anwar Pervez, 25 and Osman Sohel, 29.
Director General of Customs Inteligence and Investigation Directorate Mainul Khan said a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines
‘BG046’ landed at the Shahjalal Airport from Kuwait via Chittagong around 1 pm.
Tipped off, a team of Customs Inteligence officials arrested two women who were boarded the flight from Chittagong and identified themselves as parlor employees, he added.
Later, the Customs officials recovered 125 gold bars after searching their bodies.
Following the statement of the two women, the customs official later arrested Anwar and Osman from the airport.
