In separate incidents, customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport seized gold bars weighing around 11:5kg on Tuesday evening.Contacted, Assistant Commissioner (Customs) Ruhul Amin said they watched the suspicious movement of two passengers of an Emirates Airlines flight which was landed at the airport at about 7:30 pm.When they-Rahim and Sharif-reached the customs lounge, the customs intelligence officials found huge quantity of gold bars searching their luggage, he said.Ruhul, however, could not confirm the exact number of gold bars as well as the quantity, only saying the weight will not be less than 10 kg.Earlier, customs officials recovered 12 gold bars weighing 1.5 kg from two passengers-Ibrahim, 25, and Shah Alam, 32.Ibrahim landed at the airport by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Singapore at about 5:55 pm while Shah Alam by another Biman flight from Riyadh in the evening.When Ibrahim was trying to cross the green channel, the on-duty customs officers challenged him and found the presence of gold after scanning his small bag containing dates.Later, 10 gold bars weighing about 932 grams were recovered from the bag, said the AC (Customs).In another incident, Customs Intelligence officials challenged Shah Alam and recovered four gold bars weighing about 466 grams searching his body, said Assistant Director (Customs Intelligence) Mojibur Rahman.
