Detectives in a drive arrested four persons, including three women, from city’s Hazaribagh and Badda areas on Wednesday night in connection with the murder of Mamun Emran, Inspector of Special Branch (SB) of Police.
They are Mizan Sheikh, model girl Meherunnesa Shorna, Suraiya Akter Keya and Faria Binte Mim.
Earlier, the detectives detained two other persons in connection with the murder. They are former law enforcing members Rahmatullah and Sawpan alias Atik, who were sent to jail following a court order.
Abdul Baten, Joint-Commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said this in a press briefing on Thursday afternoon.
“The organised cheating gang members targeted Mamun for money by involving him in a ‘women scandal trap’ at Shorna’s city residence in the city. Mamun showed his identity to the criminals that created safety panic among them. At one stage, he was stabbed led by Atik to death on July 8,” he said quoting arrestees.
The murderers burnt the face and head of the body by pouring petrol so that none could identify him.
Earlier on July 8, a general diary (GD) was filed with Sabujbagh Police Station under DMP. Then, police arrested Mamun’s friend Rahmatullah in connection with the murder.
Rahmatullah went to Shorna’s house with Mamun at Banani. The accused beat Mamun to death at Shorna’s house. Later, Mamun’s body was taken to a forest under Kaliganj Thana of Gazipur where Rahmatullah poured petrol on his face and burnt it.
Police recovered the body from the forest on July 10.
A case was filed with Banani Police Station in this connection
