4 held over Ctg bank security guard murder

Police in their separate dives have arrested four people in connection with the killing of a security guard of Al-Arafah Islami Bank Ltd at its Muradpur branch in the port city on May 7.
Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Abdul Jalil Mondol at a press briefing on Saturday said four people-Mohammad Sagar, Gias Uddin, Mahbubul and Mazharul Islam Arif-have so far been arrested in connection with the murder.
The CMP Commissioner said, police have launched separate drives after the incident and arrested the four accused from different parts of Chittagong and Kishoreganj districts.
He said, detectives in a drive arrested Gias Uddin from Shah Amanat Market in the port city. Later, police arrested Mahbub from Astagram upazila and Sagar from Mithamoin upazilas of Kishoreganj district, he added.
Police also recovered a knife, used in the murder, and a mobile phone set of the security guard from their possession.
During primary investigation, he claimed, all the four accused confessed to involvement in the killing.
The CMP Commissioner said six people were involved in the gruesome murder, and police are trying to arrest the other accused involved in it.
On May 7, Ibrahim, a security guard of Al-Arafah Islami Bank Ltd, was hacked to death by robbers at its Muradpur branch in the port city.
Police said, the CCTV footage shows that a group of 3-4 armed robbers wearing masks entered the branch after cutting the grill of a window and tried to break the vault but failed. Later, they chopped the guard to death with sharp weapons, police said. Ali Newaz, a senior officer of the bank, filed the case against 3-4 unidentified people with Panchlaish Police Station the following day.
