Police detained four people from the house of State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury at Sarson Road under Kotwali thana hereon Fridaynight following a dispute over land.
Jasim Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali police station, said there had been a long standing dispute between Sanjib Singh, director of Meghna Bank and Sushil Dhar Chandu, former chairman of Anwara Sadar union.
The state minister sat in an arbitration meeting with the two groups to settle the issue in the evening.
At one stage, the two groups locked into a scuffle in presence of the state minister.
Being failed to bring the situation under control, he informed police.
Later, police detained four people from the spot around10:45pm.
