4 held for giving proxy at BU Intake Exams

Four youths were handed over to police for giving proxy against the real examinees on Saturday, the last day of intake test of Barisal University (BU).
Prof Shafiul Alam, Proctor of BU, said Kabir Hossain and Rahatul Islam, detained for giving proxy at Govt. Commercial Institute center of the city.
Besides, Lal Binte Zahir and Siamuzzaman detained from the city campus center for changing their photo and seat number by tempering admit card to help others.
Tanvir Hossain Akon, Farzana Aktar, Shamima Aktar, also detained as suspected proxy-examinees, but later released after checking documents and taking bonds, said Prof. Dr. Muhammad Muhsin, acting register of BU.
Ansaruddin, assistant commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police, said that the BU authority handed over four youths to the police accusing them for giving proxy against the real examinees at the center.
BU authority said the intake examinations under four groups ended peacefully by taking tests of ‘Gha’ and ‘Ka’ units on Saturday morning and afternoon at seven centers.
Same test of ‘Kha’ and ‘Ga’ units was held on Friday under two shifts at the same venues.
The tests held simultaneously at permanent and city campuses of BU, Government Barisal College, Women’s College, Commercial College, Model School & College and Amritalal Dey College, said Md Faysal Mahmud Rumi, Public Relations Officer of the university.
More than 70 percent of registered 27,563 applicants attended in the intake test, against 1,300 seats seat in 18 subjects under four units of six faculties at BU for 2015-16 session.
Of them, 70 percent of 7,323 applicants for 505 seats under Ka unit, 69 percent of registered 5,255 for 320 seats under Kha, 73.42 percent of registered 6,543 for 240 seats under Ga and 75.57 percent of 8,442 for 235 seats under Gha units attended the tests.
Prof Dr SM Imamul Haque, Vice- Chancellor with the other syndicate member of BU, visited the centers during the examination. Prof Dr Muhsin, acting register of BU, said results of the test would be published within Monday through the websites and notice boards of the university.
The selection would be held on the basis of marks obtained from the 120 marks of MCQ test as well as 80 marks of SSC and HSC results, BU admission committee sources said.
