Police in an overnight drive arrested four persons and recovered a good number of locally-made weapons from six students’ dormitories of Chittagong University.
Police with the help of Chittagong University authority conducted a drive at Suhrawardy Hall, Shahid Abdur Rob Hall, Shah Jalal Hall, Shah Amanat Hall, AF Rahman Hall and Alaol Hall following a clash on the campus. However, the identities of the arrested could not be ascertained immediately.Confirming the matter, Assistant Proctor Mizanur Rahman said a five-hour long raid starting at about 11pm yesterday.
Police recovered a total of 12 sacks packed with machetes, knives and iron rods from six halls, including Shah Jalal and Shah Amanat, district police said.
Police also recovered 32 rounds of bullet from Shah Jalal Hall. But, the university authority denied the recovery of arms and ammunition from the hall. Earlier, a clash took place between two groups of students around 3pm yesterday, leaving seven persons injured.
