4 hacked to death in 3 districts

At least four persons, including a mother and her daughter, were hacked to death in Gazipur, Jessore and Tangail districts on Friday.
In Gazipur, a woman and her daughter were hacked to death inside their house by a gang of unknown miscreants in Sripur upazila of the district early in the morning.
The victims have been identified as Hasina Begum, 55, her daughter Arifa Sultana, 21, resident of Atlora Kacharipara village of the Upazila, police said.
Quoting the victims’ family members, Abdul Motaleb Mia, Officer-in-Charge of Sripur Police
Station said that some of miscreants forcibly entered their house and struck Hasina and Arifa. Hasina’s elder son Shahjahan also received serious injuries during the attack. Shahjahan is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition.
“The victims’ family members heard sounds of groaning from the nearby room and found them lying in pools of blood on the floor around at mid-night,” the police official said.
The motive behind the killing could not be known immediately, he said.
“We will be able to clear the motive after getting autopsy reports of the victims,” the OC added.
In Jessore, a businessman was hacked to death by his neighbours over the dispute of a boundary wall in Shekhhati Bablatola area of the district town.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Gaffar, 40, son of Abdul Jabbar. He ran a furniture shop in Bablatola area.
Kotwali thana OC Sikder Akkas Ali said that Abdul Gaffar had disputes over boundary wall with his neighbour Kabir. Both parties submitted applications to the local Union Parishad for solving the dispute on Thursday. But the local Union Parishad took time to solve the problem by Friday.
Kabir and his son Kanchan attacked Gaffar with sharp weapons. Gaffar had serious injuries in different parts of his body in the small hours of Friday, the police official said.
Local people rushed him to Jessore Medical College Hospital at night where on the duty doctors declared Gaffar dead, he said.
The body was handed over to the victim’s family after autopsy, the OC said.
In Tangail, an auto-rickshaw driver was stabbed to death by muggers in Gorabari area under Gopalpur upazila in the district early in the morning.
The victim has been identified as Belal Hossain, 43, an inhabitant of Hemnagar area of the upazila, police said.
Gopalpur thana OC Jahirul Islam said that a gang of muggers attacked a CNG-run auto-rickshaw to snatch it away early in the morning. They stabbed him when he tried to protest the muggers’ move.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the Tangail Sadar Hospital for an autopsy, the OC said. A case has been filed in this connection.
