A court here on Monday convicted four people of killing a young man in Shibalaya upazila in 2014 and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
The convicts are Sujon Miah, 22, son of Mohammad Hossain, Suruj Miah, 19, son of Zindar Miah, Muktar Hossain, 32, son of Bakkar Hossain, and Abu Taleb, 45, son of Mohammad Ali of Teuta village in the upazila.
The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer two years more in prison. According to the prosecution, Tutul, 13, son of Arman Ali of the Teuta village, was found dead in a well on May 30, 2014, seven days after he had gone missing. Tutul’s father filed a case with Shibalaya Police Station on that day. Police arrested six people in this connection. After examining the
records and witnesses, Senior District and Session’s Judge Mizanur Rahman handed down the verdict acquitting two other accused as the allegation brought against them could not be proved.
