Four personalities have been awarded the Bangla Academy Sahitya Purashkar 2018 for their outstanding contributions to their respective field of literature.
Director General of Bangla Academy Habibullah Siraji announced the names in a press briefing on Monday
The recipients are Kazi Rosy for poetry; Mohit Kamal for prose, Syed Mohammad Shahed for research, and Afsan Chowdhury for literature on Liberation War.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to hand over the awards to the recipients at the Amar Ekushey Grantha Mela on February 1.
None has been, however, selected for translation; autobiography, memoirs, travelogue; science, technology and environment; drama; and children’s literature categories this year.
Usually the award, introduced in 1960, is given in 10 categories.
Each winner of the Bangla Academy Sahitya Purashkar will get Taka two lakh cash, a crest and a certificate.
