Four people, including three children, drowned in rivers in Sirajganj and Pabna districts on Sunday. In Sirajganj, a man and his son drowned in Korota River while taking bath in Ullapara upazila on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Hashu, 32, and his son Shakil, 8, a class II student of government primary school at Charsatbaria village in sadar upazila.
Alhaz, sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station, said the man and his son met the tragic end of their life while taking bath in the river around 2 pm. Relatives of the victims recovered the bodies.
In Pabna, two minor daughters drowned in Gumani River in Chatmohor upazila on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Jyotty, 8, daughter of Akkas Ali and Sumaiya, 8, daughter of Ansar Ali of Chinabhatkur village in the upazila.
Sattar Mandal, a member of local union parishad, said Joytty and Sumaiya slipped into the river and drowned while playing near its bank around 1 pm. Later, local people recovered their bodies.
