At least four doctors of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) have been sent home for self quarantine to stop the spread of coronavirus.
DMCH Principal Prof Dr Khan Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter to media on Wednesday.
He said, “Two doctors from the Nephrology Department and two from the Medicine Department have been asked to stay at home.
“None of them is infected. The doctors treated 10 patients of whom four tested positive for coronavirus.”
A total of 14 people have been infected with coronavirus in Bangladesh till date, of whom three have already recovered.
Covid-19, a new strain of coronavirus, has killed over 8,000 people around the world.
Meanwhile, the Dhaka Medical College authorities on Wednesday announced to shut all the educational institutions from March 18 to March 31.
Confirming the news, Professor Dr Khan Abul Kalam Azad, Principal of the college said, the decision was taken at an emergency meeting on Wednesday noon.
College holidays have been announced till March 31 for those students who are doing MBBS in the college. Besides, all offices of the college will remain open during this period, principal added.
