Police arrested four ‘terrorists’ with a 9mm pistol and a magazine from Jashore Municipality Ward No. 7 Councilor Candidate Rabiul Islam Robi’s Election Office on Tuesday.
The detainees are Shuvo (26), Sabuj (25), Raihan (24) and Himel (20).
Inspector Rakibuzzaman of the Chanchra police outpost said the secret information to the police was that Shuvo, the second-in-command of the city’s most wanted so-called army chief, Shuvo, would exchange arms with his men.
Police launched an operation to recover the weapons and arrest the terrorists’ gang.
At that time, arms were being exchanged inside the election office of Rabiul Islam Robi, a councilor candidate in the upcoming municipal elections.
Shuvo, son of a councilor candidate, and Sabuj, son of Emon of the same area, with a 9mm pistol and a magazine Farid’s son Raihan and Rahim’s son Himel from Bejpara area were arrested.
Jashore Kotwali Police Station OC Tajul Islam identified the gang as extortionists. They found evidence of weapons, yaba and pornography. There are four cases filed against the detainees in this case.
