A four-day theatre festival began yesterday on the premises of Liberation War Museum located in the capital’s Agargaon area. On the opening day, Shunyan Repertory Theatre staged their much-acclaimed production ‘Lal Jamin’ (The Land of Blood). Scripted by noted theatre personality Mannan Hira, the play ‘Lal Jamin’ depicts the story of a girl barely fourteen.
Bangladesh’s one of the foremost playwrights Mannan Hira has mingled the literary and local dictions in writing the play. Momena Choudhury, who also has reputation on stage, performed in the play keeping herself attached to its spirit. Momena Chowdhury plays the central character of the play.
On the second Day, today, BUET Drama Society will stage its 13th theatre production ‘Letter to a Child Never Born’. Directed by Bakar Bakul, Shahed Iqbal has dramatized the play from a novel by Italian author and journalist Oriana Fallaci.
Biborton Jessore (Dhaka Unit) will stage its production ‘Bratya Ami Montrohin’ directed by Yusuf Hasan Arko on May 13, while Nagorik Natya Sampraday will bring its play ‘Open Couple’ on the closing day of the festival on May 14.
