4 Ctg ‘JMB men’ put on 15-day remand each

A court here on Wednesday put four suspected members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) on a 15-day remand each in three cases filed with Karnaphuli police station.
Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Hakim Abdul Quader passed the order when police produced them before the court seeking a 10-day remand for each, said CMP additional deputy commissioner Kazi Mutakki Ibnu Minan.
Those remanded are JMB Ctg unit second-in-command Bulbul Ahmed alias Fuad, members -Md Sujan alias Babu, Mahbub
 and Shajahan Kajal. A team of Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested five JMB men- Zabed, chief of the outfit’s military wing, and its four members-Sujon, Bulbul, Mahbub, and his brother Shahjahan alias Kajol- in a drive at Khoajnagar under Karnaphuli Police Station on Monday evening.
The DB team also then recovered nine grenades, one pistol, 120 rounds of bullet, several knives and huge bomb-making materials. Later, Zabed was killed in a grenade blast in the city’s Oxygen Kuaish Road area early Tuesday.
DB Sub-Inspector Aftab Hossain of CMP filed the three cases with the police station against six JMB members on Tuesday afternoon. Of the cases, one was filed against Sujon, Bulbul, Mahbub, and Shahjahan under the Arms Act and two others against the above-mentioned four along with Farbin and Gias under the Explosives Act and Anti-Terrorism Act.
