Four policemen were injured in a crude bomb attack allegedly by Jubo League men at Dublagari Bazar in Shajhanpur upazila early Tuesday. The injured policemen are sub-inspector Kalachand Ghosh, and constables
Abdul Hamid, Meher Ali and Sabuj Miah of Shajhanpur Police Station.
Officer-in-Charge of the police station Alamgir Hossain said police arrested a local Jubo League leader, Sajedul Islam Liton, 30, from Demajani on Monday night in connection with the killing of a Grameen Fast Distribution official.
Later, a police team conducted a drive at Dublagari Bazar along with Liton at around 2am on Tuesday to recover arms.
Sensing the presence of police, Liton’s accomplices hurled several crude bombs at the law enforcers, leaving four of them injured.
At a stage, Liton tried to run away. However, police shot him in the right leg and rearrested him.
The bullet-hit Jubo League leader was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital under police custody.
On February 14, police recovered the body of Grameen Fast Distribution official Mamunur Rashid Manik from the Korotoa River.
