A schoolboy drowned while taking bath in the Tangon River in Burirbandh area of Sadar upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Himu, 15, a class IX student of Islamnagar High School and son of Naimuddin, a resident of Khanka Sharif area in the town. Quoting witnesses, police said Himu along with his four friends went to the river for taking bath in the afternoon.
Sylhet Correspondent adds: A minor boy drowned in a pond at Daspara village in Osmaninagar upazila in Sylhet, on Friday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Ibrahim, 5, son of Siraj Mia of Dashpara village..
UNB from Rajshahi adds: Two schoolboys drowned in a pond while taking bath at Dakra village in Charghat upazila on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Mostafa,10, son of Islam, and Khokon, 11, son of Shahadul of the village. Both of them were students of class V at a local school. Local people said Mostafa and Khokon went to take bath in the pond of one Mansur and drowned around 8:30 am. A pal of gloom descended on the area following the tragic death of the two children. Khandaker Golam Mostafa, officer-in-charge of Charghat police station, confirmed the incident.
