Motihar Thana Police filed four cases accusing more than five hundred Islami Chhatra Shibir men over clash with police-BCL at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) on Thursday.
Masudur Rahman and Wahidur Rahman, both are the Sub-Inspector (SI) of Motihar Police Station, on Friday evening filed four cases with Motihar Thana naming 52 while rests were unnamed, confirmed Alamgir Hossain Officer-in-Charge of Motihar Thana Police.
Two cases were filed on charge of creating obstacle on performing law enforcers’ duty and bearing expulsive weapons naming 31 Shibir men of Rajshahi University (RU) unit including its RU unit president Ashraful Alam Emon and 250 were unnamed over clash with police at Octry moor, nearly at RUET.
Two other cases were also filed on the same charge naming 21 Shibir men of RUET unit including its president Hasan Ahmed while 250 were unnamed over clash which was erupted with police in front of Shaheed Lt Selim Hall.
Eleven Shibir men who were arrested on Thursday from campus including RUET unit general secretary Ahmed Yasir following hall drive were shown arrest in the aforesaid cases, OC also said.
Drive would be continued at the adjacent area of the campus to arrest the other accused, OC continued.
Meanwhile, the university authorities on Thursday evening, through an emergency academic council meeting, closed the university for indefinite period following the clash.
Students have left the campus as the authorities asked them to vacant the dormitories by 10:00am yesterday .
