The government has formed four separate committees to asses the damage to the Sundarbans as the super cyclone Amphan
wreaked havoc on the world’s largest mangrove forest on Wednesday night.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin said the committees were formed under the leadership of Range Officers of Assistant Forest Conservator posts.
He made the remarks while talking to journalists through a video conference on Thursday.
The four bodies have been asked to submit their reports within three working days.
Shahab Uddin said they will take the necessary steps to protect the mangrove forest based on the reports of the probe bodies.
