4 BCL men hurt in JU factional clash

At least four activists were injured in a clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Jahangirnagar University (JU) over a trifling matter at the central playground on the campus.
The injured activists were identified as Jamil Hossain of Chemistry 42th batch, Abdullah Al Azim Shaikat of Finance and banking 43rd batch, Kazol Hasan of English 45th batch and Ashraful Islam of Bangla 45th batch.
Eyewitness said, two groups of students involved in altercation over a trifling issue at the central playground while Inter Department Football Tournament between Chemistry and Biochemistry department was going on at about 4:30 pm.
At one stage, BCL activist Kazol and Ashraful swooped on BCL leader Jamil Hossain while he with his fellows chased them. In the meantime, BCL activists of Shahid Salam Barkat (SSB) Hall and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (BBH) hall got involved in fighting at the Central Shahid Minar premises.
JU BCL President Jewel Rana said, “Two rival groups of students involved in clash centering a football match at the central playground. As this issue is not related to JU BCL unit, we will not take this responsibility. It’s a matter of the departments.”
