Police in several drives from Wednesday to Friday arrested the prime accused of the double-murder of Sandwip upazila Mishu along with his three accomplices from Sandwip of the district and Khulna.
Police also recovered two pistols, two single barrel guns, two shot guns, five rounds of cartridges and 10 machetes during the drives. Two persons were killed in a gun-fight between two groups of locals over controlling a cattle market at Sandwip Municipality area on September 21 last while police on the next day filed a case accusing 30 people with Mishu as the prime accused in this connection.
The arrested are prime accused and gang leader Fazle Elahi Mishu alias Mission and his accomplices Rubel, Lutfur Rahman and Mahbub Alam Reaz.
Mohammad Naimul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district, said police arrested Mishu and his accomplice Reaz from Khulna on Wednesday.
Later, based on information provided by Mishu, police arrested two others from Sandwip Upazila and recovered the arms and sharp weapons.
