Detective Branch (DB) of Police in a drive arrested four arms traders with firearms and ammunition from the city’s Mugda area on Sunday night.
The detained persons are: Md Ferdous alias Fedu, 29, Humayun Kabir alias Jhonu, 43, Shohor Ali alias Liton alias Bhangari Liton, 27 and Md Manik, 28.
Police also recovered seven firearms, 15 rounds of bullets and eight magazines from their possession, police said.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman said, “Law enforcers conducted a drive in the area following information on Sunday night and detained them with arms.”
They were gathered near Mugda bridge area to hand over the arms to the illegal channel, the police official said.
The arrested men were being interrogated regarding the matter, he said.
A case was filed with the Mugda Police Station in this connection, the DC said.
