Bangladesh Legal Trust and Services (BLAST) on Wednesday filed a case Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court against four persons including three Sub-Inspectors of Pallabi Police Station of the city for torture and murder in inside a
Thana building.
The accused people are: Pallabi Police Station sub-inspectors Zahidur Rahim Khan, Abdul Baten and Shovon Kumar Saha, and police source Sumon.
Magistrate Anwar Sadat passed order to investigate the case jointly with another case filed earlier with the Police Station in connection with the same incident.
The First Information Report (FIR) of the case says that on February 8, there was uproar at a bridal function in Pallabi Police Station area from some youths when the on-duty police, SI Zahid, Shovon and Baten took a youth, Jony by name to the Police Station. As a result of torture upon Jony in the Police Station, he died.
On February 9, deceased Joy’s father had lodged a murder case with Pallabi Police Station about the incident.
