Police arrested four suspected militants from Kallyanpur bus stand area in the capital on Monday night.
The arrested persons were identified as Abdur Razzak Umayer, Foysal Ahmed, Ahmed Fazle Akbar and Abu Nayem Zakaria.
They also recovered huge religious books from their possessions, police said.
Tipped off, a CTTC team conducted a drive in the city’s Kallyanpur area around 8:35pm and arrested them, said Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and the Chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP Monirul Islam.
Monirul Islam said that the militants might have been devising a plan to
carry out subversive activities in the city.
They gathered there to kill a lawyer of a High Court, the police official said.
The militants wanted to attack the Amar Ekushey Book Fair in February this year.
They are being interrogated in this connection, he said.
