Police arrested four men in Chattogram city early on Monday on charge of abducting a teenage boy from the railway station area three days ago.
The arrestees are Md Jakaria Mamun, 22, Abdul Alim, 19, Oli Ullah Mamun, 23 and Arman Hossain Shakil, 20.
Kotwali Police Station’s Inspector (investigation) Kamruzzaman said the four forced one Jubayer Hossain, 17, into a microbus around 11:00pm on Friday while the boy was returning home after seeing off his elder brother for Dhaka.
Later the kidnappers took him to an unknown place and demanded Tk 50,000 from his family members over phone as ransom, and threatened to kill the teenager if the family did not comply, said Inspector Kamruzzaman.
Police started investigation after getting a complaint from the family, and in the meantime, the abductors left the boy in front of the railway station blindfolded on Saturday night, said the inspector.
Of the four, Jakaria Mamun is accused in several cases including kidnapping in Chattogram and Noakhali, said Inspector Kamruzzaman.
