River Police rescued four fishermen and arrested three pirates from Char Megha area in the Meghna River on Friday.
The arrestees are – Kamal, Jakir and Shipon of Bhola district.
Md Azizur Rahman Mia, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the three pirates abducted the four fishermen from Motirhat area in Kamalnagar with their
fishing trawler on Thursday noon and asked for a ransom of Tk 30,000.
On information, River Police rescued the abducted fishermen unhurt in a drive, and arrested three pirates with local weapons, the OC added. A case was filed over the incident.
