A one-person play titled 4.48 Montrash is running for
14 days at Dr Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium, Bangladesh Mohila Samiti (Baily Road) in the capital.
The play was premiered on December 18.
The play has been translated by Shahman Moishan and Sharif Shiraj, from British playwright Sarah Kane’s final play 4.48 Psychosis. Designed and directed by Syed Jamil Ahmed, the play lacks a linear narrative, and is composed of long monologues, confessions, stream-of-consciousness, interactions with audience members and dialogues about the minutiae of life. The protagonist is a young artist,
suffering from depression, engendered by the prevalent
violence in society, including fanaticism, violence against women, absence of law and order among others.
