The Blazer BD BKSP 3rd South Asian Archery Championships-2018 was inaugurated on Saturday at BKSP ground in Savar.
BKSP Director General Brigadier General M Samsur Rahman formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF) general secretary Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal, BAF officials, BKSP officials, officials of the participating teams and technical officials were also present in the opening ceremony.
Five south Asian Countries — India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and host Bangladesh — have already confirmed their participation in the four-day meet, organized by BAF. India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have already arrived in the city to take part in the championship.
A total of 63 men’s and women’s archers – recurve division 19 men’s and 15 women’s and compound division 18 men’s and 11 women’s – will compete in the championship that includes compound division, men’s singles and doubles, women’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles events.
The Blazer BD and BKSP are the two joint sponsors of the championship.
