The State University of Bangladesh (SUB) has recently organized its 3rd convocation to confer degrees to graduate students of the department of Business Studies, Computer Science and Engineering, Pharmacy, Public Health, Food and Engineering, Architecture, Law, English Literature. Apart from conferment of degrees, four brilliant students were awarded with the Chancellor’s Gold Medal and six students received Vice Chancellor’s Award.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, MP attended the convocation as chief guest and Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof Dr AK Azad Chowdhury was the convocation speaker. The event was also attended by the President of the Board of Trustees Dr AM Shamim, Vice Chancellor Profe Dr Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury, Treasurer Major General (rtd) Dr M Shahjahan and respective Deans of the University. The convocation ceremony was conducted by the Registrar Prof AYM Ekram-ud-Daulah.
SUB has ten departments to offer a wide range of tailor-made courses, both at undergraduate and graduate levels. Besides its campuses at Satmasjid road and Bijoy Campus in Kalabagan, another world-class standard campus is underway to develop in Baridhara.
In the convocation message, the President and Chancellor of the SUB Md Abdul Hamid congratulated the graduating students, the parents and the university authority for their success in their endeavors.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in another message said, “I appreciate State University of Bangladesh for its excellent contributions to and its continuous efforts in our commitment to building an enlightened and prosperous Bangladesh.”
As chief guest Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, MP said, “Graduation opens the door to many opportunities and challenges. Graduates must embrace these challenges. Their willingness to struggle will lead to their successful careers. “
UGC Chairman Prof Dr AK Azad Chowdhury said as convocation speaker, “Irrespective of changes in method of teaching and that of course curriculum, there is something very fundamental at the core of teaching and learning which withstood the test of time. This includes inquisitiveness, insatiable thirst for knowledge, relentless efforts to understand and internalize it, self-confidence and to have interest in the subject of study. “
Vice Chancellor of the university Prof Dr Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury said, “I consider this certificate your birthmark that links you to the alma mater as you embark a career that I am sure will take you to newer heights.”
President of the Board of Trustees Dr AM Shamim said in his speech, “Since its inception, SUB has been catering to the needs of the students at home and abroad by providing them with quality education at affordable cost. He said in addition, “I believe, our relentless pursuit for quality has really transformed the institution into a multi-dimensional knowledge hub of the 21st century.”
