Chittagong court in a verdict yesterday sentenced three persons to life-term imprisonment for killing a man after abduction over previous enmity in city’s Khawza road area under Chandgaon thana 15 years back.
The fourth court of Chittagong Additional Metropolitan and Sessions Judge, Nurul Islam pronounced the verdict convicting Nizam Uddin, Mozzammel Hossain and Didurul Alam for killing youth Abul Bashar after abduction from city’s Khawza road under Chandgaon thana in 2002. The court also fined them TK 50 thousand each, in default to suffer more one year imprisonment.
The prosecution story is, in brief, that the convicts abducted the victim over previous enmity on April 10 in 2002 and police recovered his body from a pond in the said area after two days of abduction.Victim’s father Abul Hossain filed a murder case on April 12 in 2002 against the three convicts.
Police submitted charge sheet accusing three people on September 28 in 2002 and the court pressed charges against them on April 2 in 2003. The court after examining 12 out of 16 prosecution witnesses pronounced the judgment.
The judge delivered the verdict in presence of the three convicts, court sources said.
