Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) shutdown 3G and 4G internet data networks on Saturday ahead of 11th Parliamentary Election.
BTRC asked all operators to abide by the rules on Saturday noon in the city.
Preferring anonymity, an official of BTRC said directions have been made to keep 3G and 4G services closed till the midnight of Election Day.
The move has been initiated upon instruction from the Election Commission (EC).
Meanwhile, mobile data users from various parts of the country said that they had been surviving the high-speed data disruption since 3:30pm.
Earlier, EC sat with the BTRC and mobile operator companies to suspend high-speed internet on the day of voting Sunday.
It is noted that mobile data users across the country faced similar disruption from Thursday (December 27) midnight to Friday (December 28) morning.
