Chittagong district police in a series of drives picked up 3 leaders and activists of BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami from Sikunda Upazila on Saturday night.
Naimul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district, said police detained 3 leaders and activists in overnight raids at various places of Sitakunda upazil to prevent possible acts of sabotage during countrywide blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance. These BNP jamaat activists were rounded from Sonaichari union of Sitakunda upazila including Sonaichari union Jamaat secretary Tajul Islam, sources said.
Of the detainees, 2 were BNP activists, 1 Jamaat activist, Hasan added.
