A total of 39 people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 396 samples in five COVID-19 laboratories in the district.
Among the newly detected patients, 37 are from Chattogram city and two from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
The total number of infected patients now stands at 19,045 in the district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS on Sunday.
Among the total infected persons, 13,622 are the residents of the port city and the rest 5,423 are residents of different upazilas of the district.
Besides, 1,271 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city as 14,862 have recovered and 288 died while the rest 2,605 are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the city and district, Dr Fazle Rabbi said.
“The percentage of recovery rate stands at 78.96 percent in the district,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi added.
