A mobile court on Wednesday sentenced 39 brokers to six months’ imprisonment each on charges of trafficking Rohingyas to Bangladesh, from Myanmar’s Rakhine state.
Teknaf upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) M Jahid Hossain Siddique passed the order after police produced the 39 brokers — 34 from Myanmar and five from Bangladesh — before the mobile court.
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested gang of the 34 brokers of Myanmar from Shah Porir Dwip on Tuesday night while police arrested the five Bangladeshis, said officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station M Mainuddin Khan.
