The government is going to appoint a total of 38,800 teachers at non-government schools, colleges and madrasas across the country soon, said Education Ministry sources.
The upazila level education officials have collected the list of vacant posts at the schools, colleges and madrasas following the direction of the Non Government Teachers Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA). They closed their operation to collect the list on September 30 this year.
NTRCA got as many as 38,800 vacant posts at the non-government educational institutions all over the country.
The top officials of the NTRCA sent the collective list to the upazila education officials for rechecking the vacant posts. The appointment process will start from last week of this month, the ministry sources said.
The NTRCA started teachers’ registration examination from 2005 after widespread corruption and bribe allegation against the then managing committees of schools, colleges and madrasas.
It held 14 examinations and a total of 535,963 applicants passed. Of them, 64,312 got appointment in different phases. The rest of the successful applicants have been waiting for the appointment.
The first result of the examination was published in 2016. As many as 19,000 applicants took part in the examination where about 18,000 passed in the written examination. The viva-voce will be held soon.
Javed Ahmed, Additional Secretary (Secondary and Higher Education Division) of the Education Ministry said, the new teachers’ appointment at the non-government educational institutions will start within a short span of time. “The process is going on,” he said.
Meanwhile, the NTRCA has taken a decision to appoint the male teachers on “exercise” at boys’ schools, colleges and madarasas and female teachers at girls’ institutions.
The immediate past Chairman of NTRCA (Additional Secretary) M M Azhar submitted a report to the Education Ministry to update the appointment process.
He mentioned in the report that the girls’ educational institutions gave many objections in appointing male teachers for “Exercise” subject. At the same time, the boys’ schools, especially the authorities of madrasas feel embarrass if any female teachers is appointed there.
Javed Ahmed said, the Education Ministry received the report moderated by M M Azhar positively.
“It is certainly that there are many problems in appointing male and female teachers in the educational institutions,” he said.
Javed said, “We will take the decision considering the report after joining of the new chairman.”
