A woman has died of dengue at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) while a total of 388 more people infected with the mosquito-borne disease have been hospitalised across the country in 24 hours till Thursday morning.
The new death was recorded on Thursday while the fresh infections in 24 hours till Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rozina Begum, 25, wife of Moinuddin Swapan of Colonel Hat area under Akbar Shah Police Station in the port city of Chattogram.
Swapon said, Rozina, a mother of two, had been suffering from fever since Tuesday.
She was diagnosed with dengue on Wednesday after test and admitted to the CMCH on Wednesday night where she lost her battle around 11:30am on Thursday, said Dr Imon Das, assistant registrar of the hospital’s dengue ward.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said among the news patients, 117 were admitted to different hospitals in the capital.
Currently, 1704 dengue patients are taking treatment at different hospitals across the country. Of them, 659 are being treated in the capital while the rest 1045 in different districts.
