A total of 1,650 farmers of Kachua Upazila got seeds and fertilizers free of cost under Agriculture Incentive Programme during Aus seasons.
The seeds and fertilizers were distributed to the selected farmers of the upazila through Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), office sources said.
For this purpose a function was organised by upazila agriculture office at its Conference Room recently.
Former home minister Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, MP, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nilima Afroz and among others were present in the seeds and fertilizers distribution function.
Each of the farmers got 15 kg Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizers, 15 kg Muriate of Potash (MoP) and 5 kg of Aus seeds.
BSS from Meherpur adds: A total of 2,160 farmers of Sadar upazila of the district got seeds and fertilizers under Agriculture Incentive Programme during Aus and Kharif seasons free of cost.
The objective of the seeds and the fertilizers distribution among the farmers is to inspire them to cultivate Aus paddy at a low cost to strengthen the country’s food security, official sources said.
On this occasion, a function was organized by Sadar upazila agriculture office at its conference room here yesterday.
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain addressed the function as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Ataul Gani in the chair. Police super Mohammad Mustafizur Rahman, Deputy Director (DD) of DAE Dr. Md. Akhteruzzaman and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Masudul Alam were present as the special guests. The chief guest said the present government is working relentlessly for overall development of the farmers.
