Thirty-eight government primary schools in Bishwanath upazila of the Sylhet district are being operated without headmasters, leading to disruptions in regular academic and administrative activities of the institutions.
Sources said acting headteachers have long been performing duties as headmasters.
The list of the schools are Choitonnagar Govt Primary School, Dhorarai Govt Primary School, Shwasram Rahman Ali Govt Primary School, Mangalgiri Govt Primary School, Majlispur Govt Primary School, Pnachagram Govt Primary School, Alipara Govt Primary School, Narsingpur Sajjadur Rahman Govt Primary School, Hazi Arsad Ali Govt Primary School, Shah Jalal Palli Parisad Govt Primary School, Noagaon Govt Primary School, Kalimnagar Govt Primary School, Purba Shwasrap Abokropur Govt Primary School, Alhajj Abdul Motlib Govt Primary School, Mirerchar (1) Govt Primary School, Kaiya-Kair Mokrom Ali Govt Primary School, Sirazpur Govt Primary School, Sridharpur Govt Primary School, Dohal Govt Primary School, Amtoil Govt Primary School, Tukerkandi Govt Primary School, Fulchandi Govt Primary School, Shakharikona Govt Primary School, Doshpaika Anarpur Govt Primary School, Doshpaika Govt Primary School, Satpara Govt Primary School, Miazanergor Govt Primary School, Singerkach (2) Govt Primary School, Singraoli Govt Primary School, Goahori Govt Primary School, Bajitpur Govt Primary School, Fatehpur Govt Primary School, Baruni Govt Primary School, Doshghor Noagaon Govt Primary School, Ballabpur Govt Primary School and Telikona Govt Primary School.
Bishwanath Upazila education officer Mohiuddin Ahmed said, the list of the schools has been sent to higher authorities to solve the problem. “We hope the vacant posts will be filled up by January-March, 2018,” he added.
