More 38 people have died of Covid-19 in span of 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Monday.
“With the new cases of fatalities, the death toll now stands at 1,209 and the death rate at 1.33 percent,” Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, said in a press briefing.
Dr. Sultana said that more 3,099 people have detected of coronavirus positive in the same span.
The latest figures take the total number of infections in the country to 90,619, she added.
The DGHS official said that total 15,038 samples were tested in 58 laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours.
“Total 18,730 patients were recovered and released from hospitals in the last 24 hours. And the total number of recoveries has reached to 34,027,” the DGHS official said.
The current recovery rate is 37.55 percent, she added.
Bangladesh reported its first case of Covid-19 infections on March 8. The country registered its first death of coronavirus on March 18.
