The country on Sunday registered 38 more deaths and detected 2,520 more corona infected patients in the last 24 hours.
“With the new fatalities, the death toll now stands at 2,874, with 1.30 percent death rate,” said Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in a press briefing in Dhaka.
The total number of infections in the country is now 2,21,178.
The DGHS ADG said that 10,446 samples were tested in 80 authorised laboratories across the country and the current infection rate was found 24.12 percent, while the total infection rate moved to 20.08 percent.
Dr. Nasima Sultana said that 1,114 Covid-19 patients had recovered during the same period. The total number of recoveries are 1,22,090, with 55.20 percent recovery rate.
She said that 649 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours.
The DGHS official said that among the deceased, 29 were males and nine were females, while three were between 31-40 years, six between 41-50, seven between 51-60, eight between 61-70, nine between 71-80, four between 81-90 and another was above 100 years old.
She said that among them, 17 were from Dhaka, eight from Rajshahi, four from Chattogram, four from Khulna, one from Sylhet, one from Rangpur and three were from Mymensingh division.
Bangladesh reported its first Covid-19 cases on March 8 and first death from the virus on March 18.
