At least 379 people, including 66 women and 32 children, were killed while 368 others injured in 302 road accidents across the country in August last, according to a report by Road Safety Foundation (RSF).
Road Safety Foundation (RSF), a social welfare organization, prepared the report based on news carried out by seven national dailies, five online news portals and several electronic media platforms.
According to the report, of the total 379 victims, 129 were killed in 121 road accidents involving motorcycles which is 34.03 percent of the total deaths.
The victims include 81 pedestrians and 47 drivers and helpers of different vehicles.
The report also said that Dhaka division saw the majority accidents and casualties.
The sources said a total of 84 people were killed in 73 accidents in Dhaka in last in August last.
On the other hand, Barisal witnessed only 22 accidents with 19 deaths.
RSF said number of road accidents and deaths both increased in August compared to July. A total of 356 people were killed in 293 road accidents across the country in July.
