37 more die, 3,240 new cases, 1,048 recovered in 24 hrs

Health Directorate on Saturday reported 37 deaths from the novel coronavirus and 3,240 new cases of infection testing 14,031 samples in the last 24 hours.
With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 1,425 and the number of total infections stood at 108,775.
Additional Director General of Health Directorate Professor Dr Nasima Sultana said it in a press briefing on Saturday.
“Some 13,779 samples were collected in last 24 hours and 14,031 were tested in 61 laboratories across the country. So far 596,579 samples have been tested,” she added.
Besides, 1,048 patients have recovered during the time, increasing the tally to 43,993.
According to the latest data of DGHS, 40.44 pc coronavirus infected patients (both Symptomatic and Asymptomatic) have recovered and 1.31pc died. However, the infection rate was 23.09 pc on Saturday.
Currently, 62,518 people are quarantined across the country including 1,538 new patients. A total of 274,246 people have completed their quarantine course.
Nasima Sultana said, “The authorities sent 628 suspects of having Covid-19 into isolation, bringing the total to 12,102 after 7,268 left.”
“The country is capable of accommodating 13,284 patients at different isolation wards and 31,991 at 629 institutional quarantine facilities,” she added.
Moreover, there are 399 ICU facilities and 112 dialysis beds available for the treatment of coronavirus infected patients in the country.
Till date, a total of 723,044 thermal screenings were done at different ports, including 341 at airports, 172 at seaports and 246 at land ports in the last 24 hours.
As per the data provided by Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSD), personal protective equipment (PPE) collected by the government has been 2,528,245 of which 2,341,605 were distributed and 186,640 are in store.
The virus has killed 462,905 people globally and infected 8,776,448. So far 4,640,220 people have recovered from the virus worldwide.
