‘3,674 HIV positive patients in country’

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malek told the Jatiya Sangsad that 3,674 people were diagnosed as HIV positive patients in the country till 2014.
Zahid Malek said this on Wednesday while replying to a written question from treasury bench member Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh.
Zahid said, of the total, 1,417 are attacked with AIDS.
“Three non-government organisations-Ashar Alo, Mukto Akash Bangladesh (MAB) and CAAP- are providing ARV (Anti-Retroviral Drug) to HIV (positive) and AIDS patients,” he said.
Replying to another question from treasury bench member AFM Bahauddin Nasim, the state minister said the government has undertaken a project to start intensive care unit (ICU) and coronary care unit (CCU) at every district hospital across the country.
Besides, all medical college hospitals are providing heart and cancertreatment to patients in the country, Zahid informed the House.
