As of last February, the progress of Rooppur nuclear power plant construction work has been completed by 35 percent and the project cost has so far reached Tk 39,741.24 crore. The latest progress in the construction of Rooppur Power Plant was announced at a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Science and Technology held at the Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday. This information has been given in a press release of the Parliament Secretariat.
Meanwhile, a notification from Rosatom said that the last equipment made in Russia has been sent for the second unit of Rooppur Power Station.
The circular of the Parliament Secretariat said that the construction period of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is from July 2018 to December 2025. The cost of the project is 1 lakh 13 thousand 92 crore 91 lakh 26 thousand taka. Of this, government funds are Tk 22,052.91 crore and Russian project assistance is Tk 91,040 crore. The meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee recommended that all safety measures be taken in the construction of this nuclear power plant and that the work be completed within the stipulated time.
Presided over the meeting, FM Ruhul Haque, MP, Minister in charge of the Ministry of Science and Technology Architect Yafes Osman was present at the meeting at a special invitation. Committee members Whip Iqbal Rahim, Shafiqul Azam Khan, Mozaffar Hossain, Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Shirin Ahmed, Selima Ahmed and Habiba Rahman Khan attended the meeting.
According to Rosatom’s media arm, the equipment for the second unit of the Rooppur nuclear power plant has been prepared and sent by Geo Podolsk JSC (Rosatom’s instrument maker-JSC Atomenargomas). he last set of large-scale products has been shipped, including the fourth MSR SPP-1200 and the second high-pressure heater HPH-K-5.
This moisture separation reheater is designed to dry wet steam after turbine high-pressure cylinders. The SPP-1200 is shipped in three parts, a separator weighing 41 tons, a first stage reheater (unit weight 86 tons) and a second stage reheater (unit weight 105 tons).
The HPH-K-5 high pressure heater is a part of the turbine hall of a nuclear power plant. It is a large instrument measuring 11 meters in length and weighing 120 tons. The HPH-K-5 device heats the water supplied by the steam generator and cools and condenses the initial steam of the turbine.
The total weight of these equipments is 350 tons. Their efficiency is 50 years. The Department of Atomic Engineering at Geo Podolsk JSC provides design documentation of these devices and designs for the preparation of the equipment.
JSC AtomEnergomas will supply the reactor compartment of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, a large part of the turbine hall and the VVER-1200 reactor. The company manufactures reactors, steam generators, pumps, and heat exchanging equipment.
Rooppur nuclear power plant is being implemented according to Russian design and design. The center will have two power units with VVER three plus reactors and each will generate 1,200 MW of electricity.
