Comilla Correspondent :
Hundreds of vehicles, carrying passengers and goods, remained stuck in a 35 kilometre tailback on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Friday morning following a head on collision between two trucks at Raipur in Daudkandi of Comilla.
The tailback, stretching from Daudkandi to Chandina of Comilla,
disrupted vehicular movement for several hours, causing immense sufferings to the passengers, highway police sources said.
Highway police sergeant of Illiotganj camp Md Hasan said two trucks collided head on at Raipur on the highway in Daudkani upazila at around 3:00 am, disrupting traffic on the highway.
The tailback was created due to random movement of traffic after the damaged trucks were removed from the highway, Md Hasan said.
However, the gridlock started easing to a certain extent by about 11 AM.
Taher, a driver of Dhaka-bound bus from Chittagong of Saudia Paribahan, told this correspondent that it took him more than five hours to travel 28 kilometres from Chandina.
