A total of 3,400 migrant workers have left Dhaka on special flights in the last 24 hours amid the ongoing lockdown.
Among the special flights, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight departed with 106 passengers from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) to Singapore around 8:13am on Tuesday, said Tahera Khondoker, deputy general manager, Public Relations, Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
According to the airport sources, only four special flights departed from Dhaka on Saturday, 12 flights departed on Sunday and 20 flights departed on Monday.
Meanwhile, a total of 12 flights with 254 passengers from different destinations arrived in Dhaka in the last 24 hours. All the returnees were sent to institutional quarantine, said the airport’s health officials.
On Monday, the civil aviation authority said special flights for migrant workers would operate for another week as the government has decided to extend the ongoing lockdown.
