34 cases filed for recruiting children in hazardous jobs

The authorities concerned filed 134 cases against different factories and companies for engaging children in hazardous works.
“Since 2015, we filed 134 cases against the factories and establishments for violating the Labour Law,” Inspector General of Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishment Md Samsuzzaman Bhuiyan told BSS.
As per the Labour Law, legal actions could be taken against parents, guardians and owners of recruiting organizations for engaging children in hazardous jobs, he added.
Samsuzzaman said a total of 903 children were found involvement in risky works in 341 factories between 2017 and 2018. The child labour law declared names of hazardous works for children considering their safety and health ground, he added.
“We have taken a decision to eliminate child labour from 11 sectors. Over 17 lakh children have been involved in risky works in 18 sectors,” he added.
