Members of RAB-13 Rangpur headquarters have arrested Mabu Mia alias Mabu Dakat, accused in 34 cases, along with weapons and drugs on Tuesday.
RAB-13 Commander Reza Ahmed Ferdous said this at a press conference at the RAB-13 headquarters of the city’s Almannagar Water Development Board on Wednesday. He said he was arrested on Tuesday night from Kishoreganj Upazila in Nilphamari. There are 34 cases against him in different police stations of Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions including robbery, murder and drugs. The accused is known to be one of the leaders of drug syndicate including robbery. Mabu Mia is a resident of Putimari Kawar Mor area of Kishoreganj upazila of Nifamari.
RAB-13 Commander Reza Ahmed Ferdous told a news conference that the robbers were notorious drug dealers and smugglers. He is also one of the leaders of the drug syndicate in the north. He has been running that business for a long time. He established a reign of terror by intimidating and threatening the area to keep the business afloat. No one protested against him for fear. There are 34 cases in his name in different police stations in the north.
He said Mabu robbers used to carry out criminal activities in different parts of the country at different times to evade the eyes of the law enforcement agencies. He was arrested on Tuesday night at the Putimari Kawar junction. A local pistol, 1 round of ammunition, 50 bottles of Phensidyl and 14 pieces of Yaba were recovered.
