Bangladesh on Wednesday registered 33 deaths from coronavirus infections in the span of last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
Besides, 3,533 infected of Covid-19 in the same span, Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of the DGHS, said in a press briefing.
She said that with the new fatalities, the death toll now stands at 2,457 and the death rate at 1.27 percent.
The DGHS official said that total 14,002 samples were tested in 79 authorised laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours, where the infection rate has been found 25.23 percent.
She said that the total infection rate stands at 19.75 percent.
The total number of infections in the country is now 1,93,590, the official added.
Dr. Sultana said that 1,796 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the same span, the DGHS said today.
She said also that the total number of recoveries stands at 10,5,023 and the recovery rate is 54.25 percent.
In the same span, total 949 people were sent to isolation across the country.
Dr. Sultana said that among the deceased, 27 were males and six were females.
She said that 16 of them were from Dhaka, seven from Chattogram, five from Khulna, three from Rangpur and two were from Rajshahi division.
The DGHS official said that among the deceased, one was under 10 years old, three between 31-40, five within 41-50, ten between 51-60, seven between 61-70, five within 71-80 and two were 81-90 years old.
Bangladesh reported its first infection from the virus on March 8 and first death from the fatal disease on March 18.
The country remains the 17th worst affected country in the world in terms of the number of infections.
