33 BD Hajj pilgrims die in KSA

Thirty-three Bangladeshis, including several women who are in Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj, have died from different ailments until now.
The religious affairs ministry in a bulletin issued on Friday said 17 others have been hospitalised. Twenty-
four of the deceased were male and nine women. Of the total, 24 died in Makkah, eight in Medina and one in Jeddah.
The first Bangladeshi pilgrim died on Aug 7, three days after the first Hajj flight from Dhaka reached the kingdom. According to the bulletin, 101,829 Bangladeshis in 299 flights reached Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj until Friday. Of them, 95,614 went through private agencies and 5,183 under government arrangements.
The Hajj, biggest congregation of the Muslims of the world, is likely to be held on Sept 11. A total of 101,758 Bangladeshis will perform the pilgrimage this year. The return flights after the Hajj will begin from Sept 17 to Oct 17.
